Doubt blooms...Someone bleeds...Change is coming...time to take heed...Book 2 in The Rose Trilogy. A paranormal romance that continues to surprise with a heroine that’s embracing her darker side, a vampire whose love starts to waver, and a vampire clan whose new Sire is filled with doubt.

~ ROSE ~
I'm Rose Reynolds. I’ve shared my secret and ruined lives.
I’m no longer welcome in my childhood home.
And, I’ve recently threatened to kill my best friend.
I warned you - I'm not as innocent as everyone thinks…

~ CHRISTIAN ~
I'm Christian and I’m worried about Rose.
She’s changed and I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
She knows my secret and loves me still.
This I know, because I’m starting to hear whispers wherever I go…

The LasT thing I heard was Christian's voice in my head. "Rose, I forgive you."

Wow, and just…WOW! This book was even better than the first book in the series! Tish Thawer is an amazing author, and after reading book one and two of her Rose Triology, I am officially hooked and obsessed! This is a series you do not want to miss!

After Rose kills Meredith in Scent of a White Rose,  Rose runs off and lives with Christian and his clan. Living with the love of her life should make her happy, but she is everything but.  Rose has a secret that no one knows,  she is half demon. Rose is more confused than ever on what she should do, Christian’s clan is putting together a plan to illuminate all demons, how on earth could she tell them she is half of the monsters they are trying to figure out how to kill? Unfortunately Rose has more than just her own demons to fight…Meredith is alive…and she’s stronger than ever.

I want to state that Blood of a Red Rose, is the perfect name for this novel! In Blood of a Red Rose there was, well much more blood, and I got to say I am not complaining at all, I loved the extra bloody scenes! Anyways, this novel was a perfect sequel to Scent of a White Rose! I don’t know how Tish did it, but she was able to keep my attention just as much, if not even more in this second installment! While in Scent of a White Rose you learn about the vampire side of things, in Blood of a Red Rose you are learning about the demon side of things.

On top of learning more about demons, we also get to go inside the mind of a few demons and see things from their point of view! I love how Blood of a Red Rose will switch point of views just like Scent of a White Rose, how Tish can switch to multiple point of views throughout her novels just baffles me! I have read a few Alternating POV books, but books where it flips to more than just two characters is a first for me, and I loved it! In Blood of a Red Rose I felt like I knew the characters even more than before, while the romance was a bit tense between Rose and Christian it was still beautiful and heart wrenching!

All in all, if you enjoyed Scent of a White Rose, then Blood of a Red Rose will NOT disappoint! This sequel was even more epic than the first, there were more secrets, more love, more blood and more everything! If you read Scent of a White Rose, you need to pick up Blood of a Red Rose as soon as possible!

~Can I say I totally love Christian in this series…just saying ladies this is a novel gentlemen you do not want to miss! (;

A vampire's love... An innocent's guilt... A secret no one could've imagined...

A paranormal romance that entices with a heroine that isn't quite what she seems, a vampire whose love story is filled with dark surprises, and a vampire clan whose Sire has lost the ability to inflict "the change".

~ ROSE ~
I'm Rose Reynolds. I have recently lost my Mom in a "freak accident".
Now everyone sees me as an innocent girl.... a “white Rose”.
But I have a secret that no one can imagine.
I'm not as innocent as everyone thinks…

~ CHRISTIAN ~
I'm Christian and I’m in love with Rose. I also have a secret as old as time.
I’m a vampire.
No, she doesn’t know…yet.
But when our new Sire is revealed, I'll petition them to change her.
Because truly, I can't live without her...

*Please note: This book was previous labeled YA, but due to the age of the characters and content it has been relabeled PNR, but could still be considered MATURE YA.*

"But I’ll be damned if he’s going to stop me from seeing Christian."

Just when you think vampires have been done in every way possible in the literary world ….Tish Thawer comes flying in with a whole new paranormal world with vampires and demons! Vampires are good, they have clans, they have powers, they can turn dark…everything about Scent of a White Rose was such a fresh new concept when it came to vampires, actually it was just a whole new concept in general for the paranormal genre! This is a read any paranormal lover should read!

Scent of a White Rose had an amazing storyline, one thing wrong with YA novels these days I feel is their predictability. I would say about 70% (maybe more) YA novels I read I can always figure out what is going to happen next, I know the authors try hard to make things suspenseful, and a mystery, but in all honesty a lot of them fail at it. This does not mean I don’t enjoy their books, I still do..but when I come across a book that kept me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails over what was going to happen next and left me literally shocked at times, you know it’s a good read.

The characters were all very likeable too, although I must say I wish I could’ve gotten to know some of the ‘not so main’ characters. I am hoping throughout the rest of the series we will learn more about them, as far as the main characters go I really liked them. Rose was a likeable girl, I loved how independent she was, and how she was figuring out things all on her own. Most heroines have help (a lot of help) putting the pieces together, but Rose mostly did it all on her own! It gave me tons of respect towards her as a character. Christian I loved, I thought he was well first off he sounded like he was really sexy, which is always a plus, he was very protective of Rose, and you could really tell he cared for her tremendously. I also liked seeing how much he cared for his ‘family’ (other vampires in the clan), most books focus a lot on the romance aspect of love, it was nice also seeing how much he and his clan cared for eachother, not just how he felt about Rose.  I really did love Rose and Christian and a few of the other main charcters, but I think my favorite was Jillian, Roses best friend, and the only reason for her being my favorite is cause I feel I connect with her and outta all the characters she reminded me a lot of myself, which was nice! Overall though Tish has put together an awesome cast!

When it came to the romance I really loved how it was different than most YA books also, the point that Scent of a White Rose starts at, Rose and Christian have already been dating for a while. This was weird to me at first since normally YA novels start out with the girl is alone and then meets some mysterious guy blah blah (you all know how it goes), at first I didn’t like the fact that we didn’t get to really read about the process of Rose and Christian falling in love, but the more I got into the story the more I liked it, it was kind of nice skipping the beginning of their relationship, it was deff a new experience reading it, and yet another way Scent of a White Rose is a fresh new take in the YA world.

Overall, this book was such a great read. If you’re looking for a new paranormal romance read and one that is more on the mature end of YA with awesome characters, then look no further! Scent of a White Rose will have its readers on the edge of their seat, and leave them dying for book two!

Hey book beauties! Today I have an awesome interview with Tish Thawer! If you didn't already know, Tish is the author of the amazing book (it's awesome!!!!) Scent of a White Rose so check it out below and then check out my review of Scent of a White Rose that will be posted right after this! (:

Tish Thawer

Author of The Rose series
Find Tish: blog . twitter . facebook . goodreads

Bio (from goodreads):I’m Tish Thawer and am currently working on The Rose Trilogy. A paranormal romance featuring a young woman named Rose, and Christian, the vampire who loves her.

Before becoming a writer I worked as a computer consultant, a photographer and a graphic designer. I also operate a custom glass etching business, in addition to being a wife and mother of 3 wonderful children.

I've been a fan of the paranormal for as long as I can remember. Anything to do with superpowers, myth and magic has always held a special place in my heart. From my first paranormal cartoon, Isis, to the phenomenon that is Twilight, this genre has always been a part of my life.

A FAQ that I face is: "How do you pronounce your last name?"
Answer: Think "Bower" or "Thow-er". It's Persian!

Onward to the interview! :D

1.If you could describe Scent of a White Rose in 3 words, what words would you use?

Unique, Sexy, and, Surprising

2.What inspired you to write Scent of a White Rose?

I woke up with the title of the first book in my head, and a few minutes later had the titles of books two and three thought of as well. I automatically knew that the stories would be about a young woman named Rose and her journey from an innocent girl to an pretty bad vampire. And Christian would be the vampire who loved her, and the one person who would be trying to save her.

3. What was the biggest challenge of writing Scent of a White Rose?

The technical aspects. I'm so bad with keep the proper tense and things when I'm writing because I type so fast, and the story is flowing from my head so fast, that I tend to write how I talk, so that makes lots of work for my editor. (Sorry, girl!)

4. Do you have a favorite quote in your novel? If so what is it?

I am really partial to when Rose states; "But I’ll be damned if he’s going to stop me from seeing Christian." I think it really sets the tone for what a strong person she is.

5. What made you decide to pick vampires?

For some reason the word "scent", in the first title made me think vampires, because they have a good sense of smell. (Yes, I know that sounds lame.) But, it was mainly because of a blurb I thought of, "What if vampires were the good guys and a human girl was the one to fear?" - I loved the challenge of making something different like that.

6.What do you believe makes The Rose series different compared to other Vampire novels/Paranormal Romances?

Well, I think the fact that my vampires are good from the get-go, really sets them apart and it's only under certain conditions that they become a threat. And of course their ability to drift. Those are just a couple of the traits that make my vampires unique.

7.What can your future readers expect from The Rose series?

A lot more action, steamier sex scenes and a much darker edge to some of the main characters.

Random fun questions!

What would YOU do if your husband revealed to you he is a vampire and wants to change you into one!?!
Once I knew that our kids wouldn't be in danger from either of us...I'd say bring it on!!
What is your favorite colored rose?!
Actually, yellow!
If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Probably mind control. I have control issues, so I think that would be pretty amazing! LOL
If you could be any type of paranormal what would you want to be vampire/faery/werewolf/etc?
My husband and I always joke we're like the characters from Underworld. I would make a great vampire and he would be the werewolf.
