Books that are hard to get off the brain if it be because they were so good, so scary, so unique or whatever they were to make them stay on your mind weeks, months, or even years after reading them! Welcome to the YA-Aholic meme 'Still on my Mind' a meme to highlight those unforgettable reads!
The Shadow Reader by Sandy Williams
There can only be one allegiance. It’s her time to choose.
Some humans can see the fae. McKenzie Lewis can track them, reading the shadows they leave behind. But some shadows lead to danger. Others lead to lies.
A Houston college student trying to finish her degree, McKenzie has been working for the fae king for years, tracking vicious rebels who would claim the Realm. Her job isn’t her only secret. For just as long, she’s been in love with Kyol, the king’s sword-master—and relationships between humans and fae are forbidden.
But any hope for a normal life is shattered when she’s captured by Aren, the fierce and uncompromising rebel leader. He teaches her the forbidden fae language and tells her dark truths about the Court, all to persuade her to turn against the king. Time is running out, and as the fight starts to claim human lives, McKenzie has no choice but to decide once and for all whom to trust and where she ultimately stands in the face of a cataclysmic civil war.

Justus has sworn an oath to protect her life, but can he guard her from the one man who has a right to claim it?
Zoë learns the price of freedom...and the value of loyalty.

To kick off the return of still on mind, the only choice in my mind for this post was my absolute favorite book series, The Mageri series by Dannika Dark.

The Iron Knight (The Iron Fey #4) by Julie Kagawa
Read: Over a year ago in July 2011

To cold faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.
Then Meghan Chase--a half human, half fey slip of a girl--smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.
With the unwelcome company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end--a quest to find a way to honor his vow to stand by Meghan's side.
To survive in the Iron Realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. And along the way Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Ahh time to get back into doing these regularly! :D

It is so crazy to think it was over a year ago that I finished the best series ever!!!! The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa is hands down my favorite series of books, the series consists of everything I love in a book, romance, action, adventure, struggle, friendship, and on top of that Julie's writing is AMAZING (and did I mention it's about fae?!!) This series is one that I will re-read many times in the years to come and I am so sad that it ended! (thank goodness for a spin-off series Julie Kagawa is doing! :D) To this day I still think about this series constantly! (:

Going too far by Jennifer Echols
Read: Over a year ago! Back in April of 2011 (:

Ahh this is a few days late guys, I'm so sorry!!! I have been insanely busy the last few days ): But better late than never right? :/
Going too far by Jennifer Echols
Read: Over a year ago! Back in April of 2011 (:

HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO?
All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high
school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined
to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving
a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far...and almost doesn't
make it back.
John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve
and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish
rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg
pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police
academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down,
they will drive each other to the edge -- and over....
Ahh this was my first Jennifer Echols read and WOW did I love it!!!! I am normally not a huge fan of contemporary novels, but this one just blew me out of the park. I couldn't put it down for the life of me! (: Reading this book really opened up my love for a good contemporary novel. I loved the characters, I loved the tension, I just loved this whole book!

Unlovable (Port Fare #1) by Sherry Gammon
Maggie
Brown has
convinced herself she truly is unlovable, and why shouldn't she
believe that, her always drunk mother reminds her of it every day. Of course
there is Seth..Seth Mr.Popular at Port Fare High..but he couldn't possibly love
Maggie..could he?
Seth Prescott is an undercover cop, his current job? Attend Port
Fare High, and get close to Maggie and find out if her mom knows anything about
the current drug rates going up in Port Fare, while trying to stop the murders
also going on in Port Fare...Seth has had secret feelings for Maggie for a long
time...and this job is finally gonna be the thing that forces him to talk to
her.
I adored this book so so much! It had, action, romance, suspense, inner conflict, and tons of other things that people (or at least me! ha) look for in an amazing novel! I remember the night I read this book I was just cruising through the kindle store and found Unlovable, it had just came out and I thought it sounded good! I bought it, then read it in one sitting!! I could not put the book if my life depended on it! It was SO good. After I finished the book, all I wanted to do was pick it up again and start from the beginning! Almost a year later and I am still kind of obssesing over this book. I have been checking up on book two like crazy and cannot wait for it to come out! OH and did I mention that Unlovable got picked up by an indie movie company!? Ya you heard me right, Unlovable is going to be made into a MOVIE!!!! (:

Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles
First book in the Leaving Paradise series
Nothing has been the same since Caleb Becker left a party
drunk, got behind the wheel, and hit Maggie Armstrong. Even after months of
painful physical therapy, Maggie walks with a limp. Her social life is nil and
a scholarship to study abroad—her chance to escape everyone and their pitying
stares — has been canceled.
After a year in juvenile jail, Caleb’s free . . . if freedom means endless nagging from a transition coach and the prying eyes of the entire town. Coming home should feel good, but his family and ex-girlfriend seem like strangers.
Caleb and Maggie are outsiders, pigeon-holed as "criminal" and "freak." Then the truth emerges about what really happened the night of the accident and, once again, everything changes. It’s a bleak and tortuous journey for Caleb and Maggie, yet they end up finding comfort and strength from a surprising source: each other.
Swoon worthy quote from Leaving Paradise!

"Are you following me?" she asks, but doesn't
meet my gaze.
"Yeah," I say.
"Why?"
I give her the only honest and true answer I have. "You're where I want to be.."

A year later and I am still so in love with this book. I know tons of people love Simone Elkeles Perfect Chemistry series. But I can easily say I love her Leaving Paradise series SO much more. I am normally not one to even like contemporary novels that much, but this one easily blew me away! Leaving Paradise has one of the best romances I have ever read, the romance between Caleb and Maggie was heartwarming, and heartbreaking all in one. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an amazing romance, or a great contemporary read! (: (I seriously think I may read this again when I get off work...it was SO good!!)

This week the book that is still on my mind is...
Formats Available: Hardback/Paperback/Ebook
Rain is a girl of the Amazon tribe of women warriors, the
daughter of Queen Alina, living in a time of blood and fear. As the future
leader of her people, she must seek and hold fast to her inner warrior. But
amid the horrors of the battlefield, Rain is startled and mystified by the
first stirrings of mercy towards the enemy, men within her. What she encounters
along the poignant and harrowing path toward her destiny a kind young man, a
strange recurrent prophecy, and a condemned baby brother lead her, against
odds, to forge mercy, love, and peace.
Why this is still on my mind?
I read this book when I was 14 (roughly 6 years ago), back then I never read a book and enjoyed it. The only time I read books was when it was required for a project. I don't know what made me pick up The Foretelling, but I am so glad I did. I was obsessed with this book, I read it in one day, and then read it again a few weeks later! I have read this book a total of about 5 times, and although if I re-read it now maybe it wouldn't be a favorite, it is Still on my Mind for being the one book that caught my attention when no books could. After reading The Foretelling I also read Alice Hoffman's book Green Angel, which I also ended up loving! I will have to re-read this soon and review it for you guys I think, I am curious to see if I still would like it as much (:

This week the book that is still on my mind is...
Available formats:Hardback/Paperback/Ebook

It happened
like this.
I was stolen from an airport.
Taken from everything I knew,
everything I was used to.
Taken to sand and heat, dirt
and danger. And he expected
me to love him. This is my story.
A letter from nowhere.

A letter from nowhere.
Why this is still on my mind?
I read Stolen about over a year ago, and it blew my mind. I had never read anything like it, it was one of those reads that just enveloped me until the very end. It is written as a letter to her captor, so whenever she referred to Ty (captor) she would say 'you' the whole writing of this story was very unique. Stolen was a beautiful read and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something that is different, captivating, and beautiful! (:
