I locked my knees trying to ignore the way he turned my bones to mush. “I love you.” I whispered, not knowing what else to say.
After finishing The Light of Asteria, I knew I had to get my hands on book two as soon as possible. I must say picking up The Secret of the Keepers I was a little nervous, The Light of Asteria was breathtaking! I was worried wondering how author Elizabeth was going to pull off book two being just as amazing…but of course being Elizabeth Isaacs she did just that! The Secret of the Keepers was AMAZING! After reading two of Elizabeth’s novels I can now easily say I will be a forever fan and read ANYTHING she writes in the future. Her knack of writing so beautifully and writing such amazing adventures is purely astonishing.
Book two of the Kailmeyra series starts out at Nora and Gavin’s honeymoon, the two couldn’t be happier after going through so much in book one The Light of Asteria they can now finally spend their lives together as one. Nora is still adjusting to her powers, but she grows stronger every day, everything seems to be going perfect.. But then a war comes to Kailmeyra, Gavin and Nora must prepare their men to fight..
What an astounding remarkable AMAZING sequel this turned out to be! Like I said before I was really nervous picking up The Secret of the Keepers, but now that I have finished it…I think I may have even liked it MORE than book one! It was at least a tie, but I must say I loved a lot of things about this new addition to the Kailmeyra series..
First off I love Gavin and Nora’s relationship in book two, everything went up a notch! They were more romantic, they were more physical, they were more understanding, and literally just everything went up a notch!! I already knew they loved each other in book one, but book two shows us even more in depth how much they care for one another.
After the romance, I must say my favorite was some of the new characters added in, such as Rune. I LOVED Rune! I believe he was a great addition to the story. And on top of having new amazing characters, there was also a lot of development in our existing characters, Gavin I believe grew the most. I felt in The Light of Asteria Gavin was almost harsh at times, but in The Secret of the Keepers he was completely different. I felt you could really tell Nora had rubbed off a lot on him, he seemed much more kind hearted.
The last thing I loved about The Secret of the Keepers was all of the new places in the land of Kailmeyra that we got to see and explore, I absolutely love Elizabeth’s writing especially when she is describing a place. She details everything so beautifully, if I could live in one authors words, it would be Elizabeth’s.
Overall the Kailmeyra series has one of the most magical romances I have ever read, it has amazing characters, beautiful scenery, and is just overall an astounding series. It is hands down a series that everyone should enjoy!

When I’m not writing
As with most writers, I have a day job (actually two)—one as an elementary music teacher, the other as a childrens music coordinator at a local church. At school this fall, we started a green screen project in which the kiddo’s create and design their own music video. Our fourth grades also started a class blog, and I’m in charge of helping them with their posts. I’m amazed at how well they are doing. For the first time, many of our children realize they have a voice ... there opinion matters.
My daughter, Kate, is a freshman and the University of Alabama (roll tide!) and my son is finishing high school a year early and headed off to college next fall. I’m trying to convince myself that I’m way too young to suffer from empty nest syndrome! :-)
I know writers are notoriously known as cat people, but I have two dogs, Lucy, a very co-dependent hound that we rescued as a pup, and Charlie, a through-and-through farm dog. Charlie’s some sort of shepherd/retriever mix and can jump so high that his back paws come to my shoulder. When his oversized ears stand up, he looks like a dingo. I’ll often work out plotholes or problems with the manuscript by walking the dogs through the neighborhood.
I really don’t like to watch TV, but I do make exceptions for So You Think You Can Dance and when Kate’s home we watch Gilmore Girls like there’s no tomorrow. I have quite a few YA writer friends that have offered to send me their first season of Vampire Diaries (the favorite show among the YA writing community J), but I refuse, fearing I’ll like the thing and then not have time to catch up and watch the rest of the seasons.
I’m a chronic re-reader. Seriously, if there were a twelve-step program, I’d be enrolled. If I love a book, I don’t just re-read it once. I’ll re-read it ten to twenty times. You know when I’ve loved a book by the broken spine and dog-eared pages that mark my favorite passages. I used to carry my favorite books in the trunk of my car, but this year I got a kindle for Christmas, and so now I carry hundreds of books in my purse. Trust me, sometimes it’s not a good thing. Especially when I’m at a meeting and I have the most unholy temptation to put the kindle in my lap and read instead of listening to the speaker. I marvel at writers who claim they don’t like to read. To me, that’s like saying you love to swim but don’t like the water.
Lastly, every year I try to go on some sort of an adventure. This year, a writing buddy and I hope to head to Canada to do some research for a storyline I’m working on. I’ll be sure to let you know how that goes!

The Light of Asteria was nothing, but exquisite. I believe there are different kinds of authors out there…ones that are good writers, and ones that are good story tellers. There are the books that, yes the authors writing is amazing, but the story itself is nothing exciting or throat gripping. Then there are the authors that while their writing could use some work, there imagination to tell an amazing story is captivating. Once in a blue moon, I will come across an author that is both an amazing storyteller, and writer. Elizabeth Isaac’s story fulfilled my book needs to the fullest, The Light of Asteria gave me romance, action, it gave me friendship, betrayal, loss everything someone would want in a story..not only did it give me all of this, but the words that made the story were nothing short of extraordinary.
Although Nora’s life isn’t perfect, she is happy with her life out on the farm with her foster mother Edna. She works at a hardware store, attends community college, and has two friends Kate and Holly. Her life would seem average, normal. That was all before she met Gavin, after running into him on campus she feels alive for what feels like the first time. The events that follow make Nora realize that humans are not the only kind on earth, and that she herself may not be as she seems.
First I want to go over Elizabeth’s writing, it completely consumed me. The way Elizabeth captures the scenery threw Nora’s mind was so vivid; I was able to picture everything perfectly. The scenes throughout The Light of Asteria were gorgeous, tons of beautiful forests, a scene of unicorns, and another of butterflies, there were some very beautiful scenes in The Light of Asteria that I loved being able to imagine so clearly with Elizabeth’s writing. Of course with the beautiful scenes, also came the epic battle scenes with the Dokkalfar, and those were gruesome, and well EPIC.
Along with the amazing writing, came an amazing story, I loved every aspect of this story! The romance between Gavin and Nora was magical, the friendship between Rena and Nora was great, the love between Nora and her foster mother Edna was touching, the action scenes were awesome, and the scenery was beautiful.
All in all, I absolutely loved The Light of Asteria. Anyone looking for an amazing story with beautiful writing, magical romance, and anything you could possibly want in a novel, then I highly recommend The Light of Asteria. It’s a novel that will take your breath away..

I think it’s a writer’s curse, but I love watching other people ... how they act and react, their mannerisms, and how they play off each other. With that in mind, it would be incredible if I could have Malachi and Edna at the same table, hear their conversation, and see how the related to one another.

1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I am an elementary music teacher by day, writer by night. I have two teenagers and two crazy dogs, and I live in Kentucky.
2. If you could describe The Light of Asteria in three words what words would you use?
Love, adventure, and friendship3. What inspired you to write The Light of Asteria?
Nora’s story was originally written for my daughter, Kate. It came from and intensely personal place, and I had never thought about sharing it with the world. When Kate’s friends found out about it, they wanted a copy, and, as they say, the rest is history.
4. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
The messages of Asteria were meant to serve as an example. They were life lessons I wanted my daughter to know. I wanted her to appreciate what people could give her, and forgive them for the things they couldn’t. I wanted her to stop and think, to really focus on what her intent was before she let her emotions rule, and I wanted her to have an example of love and forgiveness. I never thought that so many people would be moved by those same lessons. The numerous emails and letters I’ve gotten over this past year is both humbling and, at times, a little overwhelming.
5. What was your favorite part of writing The Light of Asteria?
I loved writing the carnival scene, and the battle scenes.

Which of your characters are the most and least like you? Why?
The character most like me would probably be Elias. I have servant’s heart and am loyal to a fault. The least would obviously be the Dokkalfar. :-)
8. What can your future readers expect when they pick up The Light of Asteria?
Nora’s story is an emotional roller coaster that takes the reader on a thrilling adventure. If you like fantasy and romance, then you’ll like The Light of Asteria.
